Holocaust in Greece: includes a listing of the names of the 1,673 murdered
In 1944 the Island of Rhodes was occupied by the Germans and on July 23rd of the same year, 1673 members of the Jewish community were arrested and then deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp. There were only 151 survivors. At entry of the Kahal Shalom synagogue in Rhodes is a plaque with the family names of these Jewish victims of the Nazi Holocaust.
