The “salt people’s” ancestors came mostly from the island of Kalymnos to work in the salt fields. It depicts how this small group of Greek diaspora members struggled financially and tried to establish a community far from home.
Director Thomas Gayrard’s grand-father was one of those who came to Salin-de-Giraud, and his mother -Annie Maïllis, wrote a book called Les Grecs en Camargue, un exil entre sel et mer. . . .
